The camp is intimate in character with just 17 luxury en-suite tents tucked around a large watering hole that teems with both birds and wildlife. The camp is approached by a boat ride across the Mara River then an escorted walk through the riverine forest. Vehicles are left on the far river bank and the camp is therefore quiet and undisturbed.
The guest tents have recently been renovated and now have great wooden decks with large verandahs for guests to enjoy the constant game activity that takes place around the watering hole at the camp. The property is unfenced and there is a resident family of warthogs that wander freely through the camp. Guests may need to make way for elephants which sometimes visit the camp at lunch time. And the camp has just been awarded a Bronze Eco-Rating from Eco Tourism Kenya due to our sustainable practices in place in camp.
The tents have bathrooms with showers basins flush toilets bidets and hot and cold running water and the tents have twin beds or double beds. The open bar and dining tent have views over the waterhole the open plains of the Masai Mara and the Oloololo Escarpment Telephone fax and email are also in the camp and a satellite telephone is available.
Things to do:
The best locations in the Masai Mara with the best designed vehicles and very highly trained and experienced guides will give you an unmatched game viewing experience with photographic opportunities in the world's prime wildlife area! There are trips in the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and surrounding areas three times a day at sunrise late morning and late afternoon.
It's also possible to do a game walk with qualified guides at additional charge. At the same level as the animals you will experience the untamed beauty of the Mara and you will also be accompanied by a Masai scout who provides a wealth of information on the traditional medicinal uses of plants and Masai folklore.
Between the months of July and October one and a half million wildebeest accompanied by zebra and gazelles making the long and dangerous trek from drier lands in Tanzania northwards to Kenya. Lines of animals stretch as far as the eye can see across the plains and the grasslands echo with the sounds of new-born as they come to give birth. And with the wildebeest come the predators from all around in the long grasses lions cheetah leopard and hyena prowl and high above carrion birds vultures and eagles soar. The most dramatic of all is the moment when they cross the Mara river where crocodiles cruise the waters and the bravest wildebeest plunge in the currents and thousands follow.
Suspended in a basket beneath the balloon you're off for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. The silence as you float above the plains the forest and the rivers of Masai Mara make an unique experience. The flight lasts an hour or so drifting wherever the air currents take you with ample photography and video filming opportunities. In the time honored tradition of balloon flights the world over you toast your return to earth with a champagne breakfast cooked wherever you land and the balloon safari ends with some leisurely game viewing on the way back to Camp.
Note: Balloon flights often get booked up in advance so we recommend you book early.
