The setting is magical almost a century ago it was reserved exclusively for Kenya's colonial Governors. The camp is nestled in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River its waters teeming with bird-life hippo and crocodile in the heart of Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. The safari camp consists out of 37 luxury tents and is located right in the heart of the best game viewing area of the Masai Mara and although the accommodations are all tents you have all the comforts of a luxury hotel.

All guest tents have recently been renovated and upgraded the tents are now much bigger lighter and brighter with new tents larger bathrooms and extended verandahs. Some of the tents line the riverbank and enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River and other tents have views over the plains of the Masai Mara. The camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp and today it's still Africa's best. All tents have en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. The dining tent has views over the plains and the bar tent with deck overlooks the Mara River.

Things to do:

Game viewing
The best locations in the Masai Mara with the best designed vehicles and very highly trained and experienced guides will give you an unmatched game viewing experience with photographic opportunities in the world's prime wildlife area! There are trips in the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and surrounding areas three times a day at sunrise late morning and late afternoon.

It's also possible to do a game walk with qualified guides at additional charge. At the same level as the animals you will experience the untamed beauty of the Mara and you will also be accompanied by a Masai scout who provides a wealth of information on the traditional medicinal uses of plants and Masai folklore.

Wildebeest migration
Between the months of July and October one and a half million wildebeest accompanied by zebra and gazelles making the long and dangerous trek from drier lands in Tanzania northwards to Kenya. Lines of animals stretch as far as the eye can see across the plains and the grasslands echo with the sounds of new-born as they come to give birth. And with the wildebeest come the predators from all around in the long grasses lions cheetah leopard and hyena prowl and high above carrion birds vultures and eagles soar. The most dramatic of all is the moment when they cross the Mara river where crocodiles cruise the waters and the bravest wildebeest plunge in the currents and thousands follow.

Balloon safari
Suspended in a basket beneath the balloon you're off for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. The silence as you float above the plains the forest and the rivers of Masai Mara make an unique experience. The flight lasts an hour or so drifting wherever the air currents take you with ample photography and video filming opportunities. In the time honored tradition of balloon flights the world over you toast your return to earth with a champagne breakfast cooked wherever you land and the balloon safari ends with some leisurely game viewing on the way back to Camp.

Note: Balloon flights often get booked up in advance so we recommend you book early.

Masai cultural visit
Just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve is a traditional Masai community called Mara Rianda a Masai homestead of 48 traditional houses surrounding a cattle enclosure. If you are interested in the Masai culture and would like to experience a way of life unchanged for centuries you should take a trip and see for yourself visitors are always struck by the grace and beauty of the Masai people and the colorful lifestyle they lead. There is also a bustling curio market where guests can buy traditional Masai bead work. In order to visit the community guests have to buy a ticket at the camp reception the ticket system is initiated by the Tribal Voices project to ensure as much revenue goes to the community to support the Masai during drought when the cattle suffer.
